2017 Approved Plan vs. new council plan

What residents were told they were getting

What residents were told they were getting.

New Council plan.

At a recent meeting, the new Village Council moved to replace the Schedler Park plan (approved

by Resolution 18-236), adding a full-sized regulation turf field. The approved plan, now in jeopardy, balanced the needs of the impacted neighborhood, sports groups, conservationists, historians, and taxpayers and included a 75x50 multi-use field. With required oversight from the State of NJ Historic Preservation, the plan was moving forward with expected completion by late spring 2023.

The plan, recommended by the Schedler AdHoc Committee, stated concerns and remediation that needed to take place before any park design was approved. It was understood and stated that a park plan WOULD BE  CONTINGENT UPON THE COMPLETION AND OUTCOME OF INDEPENDENT EXPERT STUDIES: traffic, noise, safety, archaeological and environmental impacts (page 18 of AdHoc Committee report).

It is imperative that our Village Council honor the agreement and work with EXPERTS to investigate and assess emissions, air quality, exposures, health and environmental effects, as well as methods to mitigate these impacts.
